As of the 1st of November, the Curaçao Gaming Control Board (GCB) will start accepting applications for sub-licensing aimed at official registration.
The comprehensive process of registration validation is expected to take approximately 15 days for the GCB to thoroughly review and authorize.
Verification process
The portal managed by the GCB for sub-licence registration consists of five integral parts that the registering entity must complete: the registration itself, account management, licence oversight, a ticketing system, and gaming application submissions.
A completely validated account signifies that the GCB will issue an authorization letter to the company that has registered, along with an email account specifically designated by Curaçao’s Gambling Board. This will ultimately signify the complete ownership and official status of a registered company.
If the GCB requires any additional documentation from applicants, they will be provided with a period of six months to present the necessary documents.
What is the rationale behind the introduction of this process?
The shift towards comprehensive sub-licence registration is a result of the upcoming National Ordinance for Games of Chance (LOK) , which is set to be adopted shortly. LOK introduces regulatory measures that will allow for the cancellation or temporary suspension of licences and the formation of new gambling oversight authorities.
With the implementation of LOK, there will be a stronger emphasis on Responsible Gambling and enhanced safety protocols for users. Thus, ensuring proper registration of sub-licences is crucial for meeting the elevated standards mandated by LOK.
