According to recent findings by IPSOS, a well-known social data research organization, it turns out that nearly half of Canadians do not favor the present gambling advertisement campaigns.
Aim of the Study
Over the past few years, Canada's online casino player base has seen a remarkable surge, with a reported revenue growth from May to June 2022 reaching a staggering $2.68 billion. With new province-specific markets, like Ontario and the upcoming Alberta, Canada is increasingly focusing on retaining online casino revenue within its borders instead of allowing it to go offshore.
Consequently, advertising for gaming has become more plentiful and targeted at local audiences. This strategy aims to entice more players to participate through authorized local operators. However, the fact that 48% of Canadians dislike these ads suggests that this marketing approach may not be effectively hitting its target.
Result specifics
Polling data from IPSOS indicates that 63% of respondents support the presence of gambling advertisements, with 21% strongly in favor and another 21% somewhat in agreement that there should be limits on the quantity of such ads. This indicates a growing sentiment among Canadians who are vocal about their opposition to promoting gambling, especially as they express their views on social media.
Regarding the enjoyment of advertisements, 49% of individuals from Alberta do not find these ads engaging, and 36% in Atlantic Canada share a similar sentiment. Additionally, a substantial 54% of young adults aged 18-24 indicate they do not appreciate or enjoy gaming advertisements.
