Jonathan Howard, the 40-year-old man from Sussex, was found guilty of fraud in a court trial that extended over a period of four weeks.
He has been handed a five-year prison sentence due to his involvement in fraudulent activities.
Multiple Accounts
Since the year 2008, Howard had been producing more than 1,000 fake gambling accounts at Bet365, claiming bonuses totaling approximately £236,000. These bonuses are typically reserved for new players who register with the casino.
How did the accused manage to generate these false accounts? He utilized the personal information of various individuals to create numerous accounts, thus manipulating the casino system to gain advantages that a single account could never provide.
Investigation
In 2018, this fraudulent scheme attracted the attention of Sussex police, who initiated a comprehensive investigation into the matter.
The case involved a search of Howard's residence, where authorities discovered numerous bank statements and 117 SIM cards—all of which were linked to the creation of different identities.
The proceedings concluded last week, resulting in Jonathan Howard receiving a five-year prison term.
