The Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario unveiled Ontario iGaming at the close of summer 2021, allowing registrations to commence in December, with the intent to go live in early 2022.
Unfortunately, the expected timeline faced delays, and the official launch has now been rescheduled for April 4th.
In the interim, Ontario iGaming has been proactive by already granting licenses to two operators well before the anticipated launch.

During the summer of 2021, they released a strategic plan and encouraged input from stakeholders and interested parties prior to commencing the licensing process for eager operators.
Even though the rollout was initially planned for early 2022, it has now shifted to April , specifically slated for the 4th .
This delay may actually work in favor of the new regulatory body, permitting it to begin licensing interested operators and allowing others ample time to meet the necessary requirements before April.

In the first week of February 2022, Ontario iGaming awarded its inaugural licenses.
These licenses went to TheScore and PointsBet , with the latter gearing up to unveil an exciting sportsbook as of April 4th.
